Buzzing Breaks in Benidorm
Benidorm sees millions of tourists flocking to its golden beaches every year with us Brits loving the scorching hot summer weather so much so that a large portion of the population are British ex-pats. Situated on Spain’s south east coast, this Mediterranean holiday hot spot is a popular holiday destination all year round.
Benidorm- the TV show
Benidorm became even more popular with British holidaymakers following ITV’s first season of Benidorm, the TV show written by Derren Litten depicting summer life at The Solana all-inclusive resort hotel. If you’re a fan of the series and you fancy a stay at the real Solana hotel, make sure you go to alpharooms.com now and book a holiday at the Sol Pelicanos Ocas where Benidorm is filmed. The show’s cabaret bar, Neptune’s, is filmed in Morgan’s Tavern in Levante- if you’re in Benidorm, you must check it out!
Benidorm is a great place to pick up a bargain as it has a fantastic combination of local markets and shopping malls. Most of the popular shops can be found on Avenida Martinez Alejos in the Old Town district. The Levante and Rincón de Loix districts are home to some of the town’s best fashion shopping and boutiques, together with supermarkets and gift shops.
The perfect place to rest with your Benidorm hangover is one of the town’s two beaches- Playa de Poniente and the Playa de Levante, which are just over 3 miles long in total- but you must make sure that you keep well hydrated if you’re spending all day in the sun. I’d recommend Playa de Levante if you want to relax as Playa de Poniente is a little bit noisier and has more traffic going past it.
Benidorm also offers golf courses, theme parks and water parks meaning there’s entertainment for all the family, whatever you choose to do.
Benidorm is popular with party animals as it has more bars, clubs and pubs than anyother area of its size in Spain! From the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep, you’re provided with more forms of entertainment than you could ever imagine! From cabarets to discos, this town really does cater to all tastes. If you’re looking for something a little bit closer to home, you can always find a bar or pub to match your nationality (try the Irish “Shamrock”, the Welsh “Dragon” or the English “Rovers Return”!) . The more mature holiday maker can enjoy the plentiful bingo halls or a Cabaret show at the famous Benidorm Palace.
I’m not sure how much I want to say this… but look for the adverts for the next “Sticky Vicky” show if you’d like to see what a 60 year old can do with ping pong balls. Definitely not for the faint-hearted.
