Anyone for a Spot of Glamping?

With the camping season upon us I thought what better way to kick this off with a post about the new and upcoming camping accommodation, Glamping style! For those of you not in the know the term Glamping is defined as luxurious camping – the glamorous way to camp. If you love the idea of camping outdoors but don’t like the idea of bedding down with the bugs, cooking for yourself over a camp stove, eating cold baked beans or simply having limited bathroom facilities then Glamping is the perfect choice for you.

So where does this crazy camping style originate from? Well the idea is simple, combine a love of camping with a little bit of a twist, the twist being the style of accommodation you bed down in at night. Ideas and inspiration for Glamping accommodation were originally pinched from traditionally styled nomadic homes found across many regions of the world including traditional Mongolian yurts, Native American tipis, Sahara tents of the Africa desert to even the modern day trailer.

This new genre of camping is on the up and you will now find numerous Glamping sites popping up all over the UK, Europe and the World. If you fancy a little tipi or wigwam action then you’ll find the perfect spot at the Anglesey Tipi and Yurt Holidays, North Wales where you can snuggle up under the stars on plenty of sheepskin rugs and cushions next to the chiminea which can be found in each tipi.

For serious Safari style Glamping then head to the Pentre Mawr Country House, North Wales which offers luxury Safari camping with each canvas lodge featuring super king size leather beds, Freeview TV, iPod docks and it’s very own hot tub! However the only wild animals that you’ll spot at Pentre Mawr Country House will be foxes rather than lions.

If you really fancy something a little different then ditch a night under canvas for a night in the trees and head to Cabanes als Arbres in Girona, Northern Spain. These unique collection of treehouses enjoy a natural forest setting and allow guests to really get back to nature. Don’t expect much glamour at this site, the WC is biodegradable and any waste is recycled in the form of composting, there is no running water so expect to wash your hair with a jug and bowl of water, the only lighting allowed here is candle light and breakfast is delivered to your treehouse via a basket. This could either be a Glampers worst nightmare or an Eco-warriors dream either way I think it’s a pretty cool idea.

If your budget is a little stretched this summer or your heading to one of the UK’s music festivals this month then why not be the envy of Glastonbury and enjoy a little Glamping DIY style. Throw out your roll up mats and dump the sleeping bag, enter the glamorous camper! Pitch your unique designer tent, pull out the Egyptian cotton sheets, scatter the beanbags, layout the sheepskin rug and don’t forget a Moroccan lantern or two, just for a touch of the exotic and there you have it your very own DIY Glamping break!

So the question is would you prefer to bed down in Glamping style luxury or do you enjoy getting back to basics and sharing your sleeping bag with the bugs? I can safely say I would rather bed down in luxury.

I believe other website proprietors should take this site as an example , very clean and good user genial pattern . “When we lose one blessing, another is often, most unexpectedly, given in its place.” by Clive Staples Lewis.

Ooooh, I LOVE this! I did some “glamping” this year at Yosemite. My biforyend and I rented a yurt, and while we were definitely communing with nature, we also had satellite TV, a warm shower and a full kitchen after hiking all day! It was basically the best thing ever. I will totally check out other places to do it, thanks for the link

I am very happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the accidental misinformation that is at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this greatest doc.
