A-List Destinations: Travel Like the Stars
With summer now in full swing, you can’t pick up a glitzy magazine without seeing celebrities frolicking in the sea or topping up their tans. We’re frankly a little envious of the jet-set lifestyles that these stars’ lead, but the good news is that you don’t need a multi-million-dollar movie or sponsorship deal to visit the same glitzy destinations. We take inspiration from some of this years’ hottest holiday headlines:
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have been making headlines with their PDA-filled holiday in Sardinia at the beginning of August. The pair were spotted canoodling on Pittulongu Beach, before Orlando stripped off for a naked paddle boarding session. We’re not suggesting you follow suit, but the public beach is perfect for scuba diving, snorkeling and surfing. Just 45 minutes away from Pittulongu lies Porto Cervo, another star-studded resort that has seen visits from Heidi Klum, Gwyneth Paltrow and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
This year it seems all the stars are heading to the White Isle to let their hair down. Orange is the New Black Star Ruby Rose was seen partying on a yacht with friends, while Olivia Palermo was a guest on Valentino’s yacht. Proving that Ibiza isn’t just a party destination, Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio took her whole family on her holiday and was photographed splashing around on the beach and helping her two young children build sandcastles.
At least once a year, this glitzy destination in the south of France is home to some serious A-Listers as they walk the red carpet, promote their new movies and pick up awards. This year, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively was wowing the red carpet and away from duties was spotted enjoying a leisurely lunch at the Nikki Beach pop-up in the Intercontinental Carlton Cannes. This hotel is a particular favourite with celebrities attending the awards and the seventh-floor prestige suites are named after the stars that keep coming back! The Sean Connery suite is especially lavish but expect to pay about £20,000 per night to stay there. Standard rooms cost from £131.60.
Celebrity breaks don’t have to involve sunshine: this year Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Kanye West and BFF Jonathan Cheban enjoyed an action-packed break together in Iceland. The stars stayed in the swish Hotel Ranga and certainly managed to fit in a lot, with a trip to Seljalandsfoss waterfall, a dip in the famous Blue Lagoon and even a visit to a tomato farm – proving that even A-listers don’t have to be glam all the time. Their photographs must have been inspirational among their set, as later on in the year Jay-Z and Beyoncé followed suit with an Icelandic adventure of their own. We wonder if they enjoyed the tomato farm too?
Blue Ivy is an honorary citizen of the island of Hvar. That might sound like a strange feat for a toddler to accomplish but it’s true! It was revealed that Beyoncé and Jay-Z came up with her name after stumbling upon a tree that they both liked the look of in Hvar Town. The couple caught the moment on film, which delighted the mayor enough to award the accolade!
